Yunfei Li. MPhil-PhD student. She works on synthesis of new molecules and materials for application in photocatalysis. Her position is funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Yiyi Fu. MPhil-PhD student. She works on synthesis of new reagents for application in organic photocatalysis. Her position is funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Chong Wang. Postdoctoral researcher at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He works on synthesis of modified carbon nitrides and application of these materials in advanced organic synthesis. He is funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Jingru Zhuang. MPhil-PhD student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He works on application of carbon nitrides as photocatalysts in organic synthesis and photocharged carbon nitrides as catalysts in the dark. His position is funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong.


Alumni

Dr. Sonia Zoltowska. Postdoctoral researcher (2022-2025) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany. The scope of her work included synthesis of carbon nitride membranes by chemical vapor deposition for application as photocatalysts in conversion of CO2, H2O and other compounds into value added products within the project CATART. Her job position was funded by the European Union (grant agreement 101046836). Upon completion of her assignment, she took a position of independent researcher/junior group leader at the University of Potsdam.

Gabriel Kwing Pak Chan. PhD student (2022-2025) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany. He was working on synthesis of carbon nitride thin films by chemical vapor deposition for their application as light-responsive layer in photoelectrodes. The project was funded by the German research foundation (Priority program 2370).

Dr. Vitaliy Shvalagin. Postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany in 2022-2025. He worked on photocatalytic valorization of bioethanol into H2 and value added organic compounds within the project GH2. The project was funded by the European Union (grant agreement No 101070721).

Dr. Alexey Galushchinskiy. PhD student (2020-2023) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany. He has been working on development of carbon nitride materials for application in selective organic photocatalysis within the International Training Network Solar2Chem. The project was funded by the European Union (grant agreement No. 861151).

Dr. Stefano Mazzanti. PhD student (2019-2022) and postdoctoral researcher (2022-2023). After completion of his assignment, he took a position of Electrochemical Engineer at McPhy Energy Deutschland GmbH, Germany.

Dr. Yevheniia Markushyna. PhD student (2018-2020) and postdoctoral researcher (2020-2022). After completion of her assignment, she took a position of Scientist/Project manager R&D at Evonik, Germany.

Dr. Bogdan Kurpil. Postdoctoral researcher 2016-2018. After completion of his assignment, he took a position of Research Chemist at Taros Chemicals, Germany.

Carolina Pulignani. Visiting PhD student (2022) from the University of Cambridge, UK. Under the supervision of Alexey Galushchinskiy she worked on preparation and characterization of carbon nitride photoelectrodes,

Horatiu Szalad. Visiting PhD student (2022) from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain. Under the supervision of Alexey Galushchinskiy he synthesized carbon nitride hybrid materials and applied them as photocatalysts in synthesis of H2O2.

Giuseppe Minerva. Visiting MSc student (2022). Under the supervision of Yevheniia Markushyna he synthesized and characterized carbon nitride materials modified with transition metals, and studied them as photocatalysts.

Clara Schritt. Visiting MSc student (2021) from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. Together with Stefano Mazzanti she investigated photocharged carbon nitrides as reductants in organic synthesis.

Prof. Gaofeng Chen. Humboldt Fellow (2020-2022) and postdoctoral researcher (2022-2023). He worked on electrochemical and photochemical N2 fixation into ammonia and nitrogen-containing organic compounds. Upon completion of his stay, he took a position of Professor at the South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China.

Dr. Xinyi Lian. Visiting PhD student (2020-2022) from Xiamen University, China. She worked on photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI).

Dr. Yajun Zou. Visiting PhD student (2019-2021) from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. She studied semiconductor photocatalysts in synthesis of organic compounds. After completion of her internship, she became the editor of the journal Global Energy Interconnection.

José Luis Ponferrada Bueno, Visiting student (2019) from IES Maimónides, Spain. Under the supervision of Yevheniia Markushyna he worked on synthesis of carbon nitrides and studying luminescent properties of polymers.

Wojciech Lipiński. Visiting MSc student (2019). Together with Bogdan Kurpil he worked on application of carbon nitride materials as photocatalysts in synthesis of organic compounds. After completion of his internship, he continued his study as a PhD student at Radboud University, the Netherlands.

José Manuel Sánchez Vadillo. Visiting student (2018) from IES Maimónides, Spain. He worked on synthesis of carbon nitride materials and their application as photocatalysts in organic synthesis.

Dr. Paolo Lamagni. Visiting PhD student (2018) from Aarhus University, Denmark. He worked on application of carbon nitride materials as photocatalysts and characterization of redox properties of enones.

Prof. Guigang Zhang. Humboldt Fellow and postdoctoral researcher (2016-2019). He developed and synthesized carbon nitride materials and applied them as photocatalysts in H2 evolution reaction. After completion of his assignment, he took a position of Professor at Fuzhou University, China.
